The Relationship Between Your Car And Personality

As most of us men already know, cars are beautiful in all of their glory. Cars are one of the most glamorous things the world has to offer, and they come in different sizes and makes, and different colors and trends. Now, it’s a general fact that your personality cannot just stay in isolation, some how it has to spill over into your actions and into your everyday life. So the actions you take is a reflection of your personality; You’re probably wondering how your personality affects your choice for a car, well let’s do some analysis.

Why did you buy your current car?

Although some men here might not agree with this, but you don’t just go to buy a car blindly. Either consciously or subconsciously, we weigh our choices to find out which of the automobile catches our attention. There are so many wide range of cars out there, there is practically no way a rational man will just walk to a car dealership and pick up just any car, that would be a brand of madness.

Let’s say you want to get a car, and you are interested in a popular Japanese brand like Toyota. I definitely think Toyota make great cars and give you a lot of bang for your buck. However, there are still some questions that you have to answer before fork over your hard earned money and pick one up. First, which of the different Toyota models do you prefer? Is it the Toyota Tundra, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Sienna? Take into consideration that all of these models have direct competitors (Honda, Nissan, Buick, Kia etc.) and you should seek out the different models of those brands as well. If after all the research, you still believe that you are a Toyota man, how will you be able to choose which of the brands you prefer?

This is where your personality comes into play. Your character traits, your behavioral style will be the deciding factor in picking a car.

What are the different Personalities?

Now, there are different ways psychologist and human scientist express the different types of personalities that humans possess, but I’m a personal fan of the work of Robert McCrae and Paul Costa in 1990. They were psychologists that formulated a personality theory, where the BIG FIVE personality trait is taken from; these personality traits have been used worldwide already to help manage and categorize large groups of people. let’s go through them and see what sort of cars these personalities can get you.

Conscientiousness

Yes, I know this word looks a little bit big but don’t judge it before taking a closer look at it. This personality traits has to do with having a present and constant consciousness in everything you do. It relates to having a large organizational complex and a big sense of ethical work sense. Men that relate with this personality trait are obsessively detail-driven, they would rather focus on one task for a long period of time than focus on multiple tasks.

Now, for Men with large Conscientiousness as a personality trait, what type of car do you think such a person will go for? They probably would want something sleek like a black sedan. (In this case a Toyota Camry). This tells you that such a person is calculative, professional and very simple in his or her lifestyle.

Agreeableness

People that identify with this personality trait play out to be nice friends, very friendly in disposition and character. These individuals are cool under pressure and tend to work with others in a peace and tranquil manner. They are also quite trustworthy and extremely truthful with friends, family and work colleagues.

People who are naturally agreeable always want to be around others in order please them. By doing so, they receive a great deal of love in return. Most likely, they would choose a car that was spacious not just for themselves, but also for their friends and family to join them as well. I would suspect they would go for a large White Mini Van, something along the lines of a Toyota Sienna.

Extraversion

This personal trait describes those individuals that finds it very easy to read the room and get into a new and exciting conversation with a total stranger. I’m certain each and everyone of us has a friend that we know that is like this: You go to an event with a friend and before you know it, he is no longer by your side and is already mingling with the crowd.

Yes, it is nice to be the centre of attraction, with your loquaciousness and high energy but what sort of car will fit your personality? I think a car you would most like have of go for are fast cars, ones that make you feel like you are living on the edge. You will probably like driving Ferraris or Porsches as dream cars, but for the sake of being practical, maybe a Toyota GR Supra in bright red is just for you.

Neuroticism

These are the people that want it their way. If it doesn’t fit them, they are quick to change it and move on. They also are extremely particular about designs and their effectiveness in everyday life. They have zero tolerance for things that not only they do not like, but also are not practical by any stretch of the imagination.

A perfect car for this type of a person would be an SUV. Something that is stylish, yet extremely practical. I can imagine seeing them drive a Toyota Highlander in Silver with black leather interior.

Openness To Experience

These are the adventurous types as they seek not only new adventures and experiences, but are open to very spontaneous weekend trips that might last another 2 or 3 days. They are extremely positive people and wake up with a positive look on life. They found the silver lining in every cloud and are perfect companions. They would gladly go hiking in the woods or mountain climbing in the back country with friends.

For those types, they would benefit greatly from either a SUV or Crossover that can give them the practicality that they need for city and outdoor life. A blue Toyota RAV 4 is the perfect vehicle to match their personality and interests in life.

Conclusion
